\n The map by Climate Central<\/a>, a group of independent scientists and communicators, highlights areas that will be submerged if nations manage to meet their pledged commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n Areas across Dumbarton that have been outlined as affected in the next 25 years are Dumbarton Golf Course<\/a>, Bridge Street<\/a>, sections of Dumbarton Castle<\/a> and Broadmeadow Industrial Estate<\/a>, parts of the railway line and Leven Grove Park<\/a>, as well as a stretch of Dumbarton Road<\/a> by Bowling.\n<\/p>\n

\n The data also shows the River Leven will burst its banks from the Clyde up to Renton.\n<\/p>\n

\n This comes as nations have pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to cap global heating at 1.5C, as set out in the Paris Agreement.\n<\/p>\n

\n However, data from the Climate Action Tracker<\/a> shows that even if current pledges are fully met, the world remains on course for 2.2C of warming. Existing commitments for this decade put the planet on a 2.9C trajectory, far above the 1.5C target.\n<\/p>\n

\n If high emissions continue, impacts such as sea level rise and coastal flooding will be more severe<\/a>, in line with human-caused climate change.\n<\/p>\n

\n As a result, the UN has warned that nations must go beyond their current pledges<\/a> and take stronger action to secure a stable future.\n<\/p>\n

\n A rise of just 2C above pre-industrial levels would expose 2.3 billion people<\/a> to deadly heat and humidity at least once a year.\n<\/p>\n

\n Rainfall patterns would also shift dramatically, with precipitation increasing by up to 20% across central and northern Europe, heightening flood risks. Meanwhile, southern and eastern Europe could see droughts increase by 30%, compared with a global rise of 15%.\n<\/p>\n
