The Brit Awards\u2019 <\/a>move to Manchester for the 2026 ceremony generated \u00a35 million for the city and its surrounding area, research has found.<\/p>\n

The annual awards ceremony was hosted in the North West for the first time this year after being held in the capital for its near 50-year history.<\/p>\n

The move had a positive economic and social impact and created more than 3,000 temporary employment opportunities, according to a study by Amion Consulting.<\/p>\n

Out of the \u00a35 million generated, \u00a33.6 million came from visitors and \u00a31.4 million was as a result of organiser and partner expenditure.<\/p>\n

The study also found the event created 3,099 one-week temporary jobs for Manchester-based workers, equivalent to 15,497 days of employment.<\/p>\n

It also found that 92% of award show attendees rated the experience as excellent or good, with the move to Manchester helping to engage new audiences in the Brits themselves.<\/p>\n

The awards show took place at Manchester\u2019s Co-op Live on 28 February in a ceremony hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, and featured performances from stars including Harry Styles, Olivia Dean<\/a>, Raye and Mark Ronson.<\/p>\n

Bev Craig, the mayor of Greater Manchester, praised the Brit Awards\u2019 move north as a \u201cmassive moment for our city region\u201d.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cIt was a recognition not only of our unmatched music heritage, but our growing reputation for putting on national and global events and making a success of them.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvents like these bring millions of pounds into our economy and boost our culture and hospitality industries, but they\u2019re also about creating opportunities and inspiring people here with major events in world-class venues right on their doorstep.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve done it once in style, and we\u2019ll do it again next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to help make 2027 an even bigger year for the Brits, celebrating our thriving music scene and showcasing the creativity, talent and ambition that make this place so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
