{"id":789068,"date":"2026-10-01T23:58:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T23:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/789068\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T23:58:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T23:58:10","slug":"people-urged-to-book-flu-jabs-as-rollout-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/789068\/","title":{"rendered":"People urged to book flu jabs as rollout begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">People eligible for a free flu jab in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have been urged to book an appointment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The programme of vaccinations began on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Those eligible for a free jab include the over 65s, pregnant women, care home residents and people classed clinically-vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Steve Clapton, assistant director of health protection for the area, said the vaccine is &#8220;one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family and those around you ahead as we move into the winter months.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This is why we&#8217;re encouraging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated from 1 October,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;It can be very dangerous for those in higher risk groups who can go onto experience serious complications such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
