{"id":789690,"date":"2026-10-02T13:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T13:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/789690\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T13:58:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T13:58:12","slug":"derek-chisora-makes-bold-filip-hrgovic-vs-rico-verhoeven-prediction-he-loses-that-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/789690\/","title":{"rendered":"Derek Chisora makes bold Filip Hrgovic vs Rico Verhoeven prediction: &#8220;He loses that fight&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/filip-hrgovic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Filip Hrgovic<\/a> is set to defend his IBF heavyweight title in the coming months and could even do so against Rico Verhoeven, and heavyweight veteran <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/derek-chisora\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Derek Chisora<\/a> has laid out his prediction for that potential contest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/boxing\/live\/c5vgy3pk11x0t?page=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Hrgovic got the better of Moses Itauma in August<\/a>, as he sprung the upset to become Croatia\u2019s first ever heavyweight boxing world champion, halting plans for Itauma to take over the division.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst it is expected that Hrgovic will first defend his belt against mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez \u2013 who previously agreed to a \u2018step-aside deal\u2019 to permit Itauma and Hrgovic to box for the vacant IBF title \u2013 it seems as though Turki Alalshikh has other ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the boxing powerbroker has shared his interest in a bout between Hrgovic and kickboxer-turned-boxer Verhoeven on the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua card \u2013 a deal that would hinge on Sanchez\u2019s willingness to agree to yet another \u2018step-aside fee\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/-tnoxitH4OU?si=TyGfABroqSdLpCD7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seconds Out<\/a>, Chisora admitted that he would actually favour Verhoeven to come out on top, believing that the Croatian\u2019s victory over Itauma flatters the newly-crowned champion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHrgovic would lose that fight. Moses Itauma didn\u2019t get beat, Moses Itauma beat himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not like Moses Itauma left that ring with a beatdown, he just got tired.
