{"id":790662,"date":"2026-10-03T12:38:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-03T12:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/790662\/"},"modified":"2026-10-03T12:38:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-03T12:38:11","slug":"helensburgh-women-invited-to-safety-awareness-glow-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/790662\/","title":{"rendered":"Helensburgh women invited to safety awareness Glow Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helensburghadvertiser.co.uk\/local-news\/helensburgh-news\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Helensburgh<\/a> Breeze Riders is organising the Glow Ride to highlight concerns about women\u2019s safety while cycling.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The women-led event is open to everyone and will start and finish at Helensburgh Cycles on West Clyde Street.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It will run from 7pm to 8.15pm, with the ride itself expected to last no more than 45 minutes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The event is free, but <a href=\"https:\/\/bbr.cyclinguk.org\/events\/details\/?id=f367eecb-08b8-f111-aaae-6045bdd245ea&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawUpohBleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mBWJyaWQRMEpFVWxOVnBzZVQ3OXBQNEtzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEewiUaPScEdNXURUngbPkE1MVoDeVx9j7cRjeKZuSrEUuF6-HX3cH3Amx3IaQ_aem_W3DsDCRNdws8U57XL9neGw&amp;ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">participants are asked to register<\/a> in advance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  People can register through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclinguk.org\/my-ride-our-right\/mass-rides?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cycling UK website<\/a> by finding Helensburgh on the Glow Rides map.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Organisers said glow rides are colourful cycling events which raise the need for safer streets and better cycle routes. Similar rides are being organised by local people across the UK, with support from cycling campaign charity Cycling UK.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The event forms part of Cycling UK\u2019s My Ride, Our Right campaign.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It highlights how women are more likely than men to be discouraged from cycling by fears about heavy traffic, poor road infrastructure and intimidating behaviour from drivers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Participants are asked to bring their own bike, a helmet and lights, but are encouraged to use glow sticks during the ride around Helensburgh\u2019s streets and parks.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  For further information or to ask question email helensburghcycles@yahoo.co.uk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Helensburgh Breeze Riders is organising the Glow Ride to highlight concerns about women\u2019s safety while cycling.
