{"id":792344,"date":"2026-10-05T04:56:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T04:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/792344\/"},"modified":"2026-10-05T04:56:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T04:56:13","slug":"saudi-led-coalition-dismisses-misleading-houthi-claim-of-riyadh-attack-houthis-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/792344\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi-led coalition dismisses \u2018misleading\u2019 Houthi claim of Riyadh attack | Houthis News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">The Saudi-led coalition spokesman says the Yemeni armed group is \u2018attempting to divert attention\u2019 from its losses.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"avatar\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-hidden=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/author\/al_jazeera_staff_150119130629458\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1791176173_617_2017-06-08T131939Z_1189275883_RC11B0FE7F20_RTRMADP_3_GULF-QATAR-JAZEERA-1714943623.jpg\"   aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Published On 4 Oct 20264 Oct 2026<\/p>\n<p>The Houthis\u2019 claims that the Iran-allied armed group has targeted Saudi Arabia\u2019s capital Riyadh are \u201cmisleading\u201d, according to the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen\u2019s internationally recognised government.<\/p>\n<p>Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki\u2019s remarks came on Saturday after the Houthis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/4\/houthis-claim-strike-on-saudi-energy-facility-as-yemen-fighting-intensifies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">claimed<\/a> ballistic missile and drone attacks on an Aramco oil facility near Riyadh.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 4 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>The group said the assault caused large fires as fighting between the Houthis and government forces intensifies in Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>In remarks carried by Saudi media Asharq Al-Awsat late on Saturday, al-Maliki claimed that the Houthis are \u201cattempting to divert attention from the scale of the losses and the growing public anger against them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Chaos and devastation\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The development comes after the Yemeni forces \u201cexecuted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/video\/newsfeed\/2026\/10\/4\/saudi-backed-yemeni-army-says-700-houthis-killed-in-24-hours\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">257 precision targeting operations<\/a>\u201d against Houthi sites, movements, and military capabilities on Saturday, according to the spokesman for Yemen\u2019s internationally recognised government forces, Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nazili.<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/3\/over-1500-houthi-casualties-in-past-24-hours-yemeni-army-says\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">added<\/a> that initial estimates indicate that the operations killed at least 700 Houthi rebels.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, al-Maliki said the Houthis\u2019 \u201cties to external agendas\u201d have brought \u201cchaos and devastation to Yemen\u201d, adding that \u201cwhat the Houthis are facing in Taiz \u2026 drive them to seek illusory victories\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Early on Sunday, the Saudi-led coalition said its armed forces carried out 97 \u201cprecise targeting operations\u201d against Houthi reinforcements on the Tor al-Baha front and the Taiz axis, using warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and snipers.<\/p>\n<p>The fighting between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces has intensified since a fragile 2022 truce collapsed in July, displacing hundreds of thousands of people since then.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In mid-September, the Houthis seized the port city of Mocha and strategic islands in the Bab al-Mandeb strait, a vital route for global oil shipments, before anti-Houthi forces stabilised front lines.<\/p>\n<p>Yemen has been at war since the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa in 2014, forcing the Yemeni government to retreat to Aden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Saudi-led coalition spokesman says the Yemeni armed group is \u2018attempting to divert attention\u2019 from its losses.
