Citro\u00ebn has released new images of the reborn 2CV<\/a> ahead of its unveiling later this week, showcasing its throwback design cues.<\/p>\n

One of the stars of next week\u2019s Paris motor show, the new 2CV has been conceived to give \u201cbuying power\u201d back to European motorists, according to Citro\u00ebn chief Xavier Chardon. It will be \u201ca true people\u2019s car designed for real life\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The new pictures show its dome-shaped headlights, set high on its front wings, as well as deep-set bonnet strakes reminiscent of the extrusions on early 2CVs.<\/p>\n

It also has an open air duct between its front wings and bonnet, a cue found on\u00a0later examples of the famed ‘Tin Snail’.<\/p>\n

It rides on large steel-style wheels wrapped in Michelin rubber, recalling\u00a0the tyre firm\u2019s significant involvement in the development of the original.<\/p>\n

Autocar exclusively broke the news that Citro\u00ebn was plotting the 2CV\u2019s revival<\/a> in January 2025, as part of a bid to tap into opportunity in Europe\u2019s affordable car segment.<\/p>\n

It’s expected to become the French\u00a0brand\u2019s entry-level car, bridging the gap between the Ami quadricycle and the conventional C3 supermini.<\/p>\n

The 2CV will be an EV and, Chardon said, \u201cwill democratise electric mobility\u201d.<\/p>\n

To that end, Citroen previously confirmed it will be priced at less than \u20ac15,000 (\u00a312,700)\u00a0and that it has been designed to take advantage of the EU’s\u00a0E-car<\/a>\u00a0proposal \u2013 a ruleset that would heavily incentivise sales of small EVs built in the EU.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of mobility will not be won by the most complex cars but by the simplest and the most intuitive ones,\u201d Chardon said. \u201cWhat truly matters is to be relevant.\u201d<\/p>\n
