The trial is truly amazing.”

The trial is testing a new drug, known as an investigational medicine, for Ewing sarcoma that has worsened and not responded to previous treatment.

As part of the trial, Georgie receives the trial drug every three weeks at Great North Children’s Hospital, along with two other chemotherapy medicines that are already approved for use in the UK.

“Finding out Georgie had Ewing sarcoma was such a shock to our family,” their dad Paul commented.

“We assumed the leg pain was caused by a fracture or something harmless.

“Seeing them go through treatment was incredibly difficult and at one point we feared we wouldn’t see Georige reach their 18th birthday.

“When we found out about the trial in Newcastle, we thought it was worth trying but didn’t expect such positive results.

“The fact that there is currently no sign of cancer feels like a miracle. We cannot thank the Newcastle team enough for everything they have done for Georgie and our family.”

There were fears that Georgie Hyslop – also known as Noah – would not make their 18th birthday…

[10
59,102,56,54,55
post-794856","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health","tag-gb","tag-health","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
