Given the fact that Andrew Garfield has The Magic Faraway Tree, The Uprising and Artificial all coming out this year, it’s perhaps understandable that he hasn’t had loads of time to head to the cinema.<\/p>\n

What may be more of a shock though is that he hasn’t yet seen Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Not only is the actor known for previously playing the web-slinger, but the Marvel<\/a> project (which dropped in cinemas in July) is currently the third-highest grossing film of all time.<\/p>\n

It isn’t for the lack of wanting or trying, however, with the actor exclusively telling Digital Spy: “I’ve been promoting. Now everyone’s going to be angry. I’ve just been promoting stuff and travelling.”<\/p>\n

“I don’t want to watch it on my TV, I want to watch it in the cinema, so I’m just waiting for that window. I will do it. I’m so excited to do it,” added the star \u2014 who first played Peter Parker in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man \u2014 of the movie that’s now available to watch at home<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Though Garfield originally played the superhero in Marc Webb’s duology, the actor reprised his role alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home as part of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga.<\/p>\n

With No Way Home being nearly five years old, Garfield has fond memories of his time on the set, sharing: “What a gift to be able to come back and do that with those two, and in a way that felt so creative, free, playful and true to the characters.”<\/p>\n

“[I was] just so lucky, really. I look back on it with such fondness and thanks. I feel very, very lucky. I think I needed to tie it up, I felt like it was a little undone, so I was very happy,” he added.<\/p>\n

Garfield was speaking to us as part of the promotional campaign for The Uprising, an action period drama<\/a> from writer-director Paul Greengrass that dramatises the events of the Peasants’ Revolt from 1381. <\/p>\n

The film marks the first collaboration between the pair, with the actor noting<\/a>: “I’m so lucky that I got to work with him on this because I feel like this film feels very personal and deeply emotional for him and for me.<\/p>\n

“I found the way he worked to be like a great football captain. He makes you want to get bloody, bruised, knocked about and muddy. You want to leave it all on the field for him. He’s very encouraging, loving and kind.”<\/p>\n

The Uprising is released in UK cinemas on 9 October.<\/p>\n
