{"id":796426,"date":"2026-10-08T23:20:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T23:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/796426\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T23:20:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T23:20:11","slug":"wimbledon-chief-military-trained-security-would-love-to-sort-out-influencers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/796426\/","title":{"rendered":"Wimbledon chief: Military-trained security would love to \u2018sort out\u2019 influencers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The All England Club is not concerned at the prospect of influencers causing issues at Wimbledon because their military-trained security staff would like \u201cnothing more than to sort them out\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest talking points during last month\u2019s US Open was the disruption caused by <a class=\"ck-custom-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/tennis\/2026\/09\/06\/us-open-influencers-etiquette-osaka-gauff-viral-tiktok\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social-media personalities<\/a>, many of whom ignored tennis\u2019s traditional etiquette in their bid to create content for their channels.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Richard Atkinson, the interim chief executive of the All England Club, was speaking at the Leaders Week conference at Stamford Bridge where he discussed the cultural difference between the Wimbledon and US Open crowds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019ve ever been to the US Open, it\u2019s very New York City, right? It is mad, it is noisy, there\u2019s all sorts of stuff going on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s dead easy for someone who just bought a ticket to show up there with ring lights and start broadcasting literally in the middle of the match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you try to do that at Wimbledon, I think you\u2019d probably have some Royal Marine Commando [stopping you].
