Liverpool city centre’s Soultrain bar recently announced<\/a> that it was “closed for good” after facing difficulties with customer numbers. However, the over-25s venue, currently located on Seel Street, has now confirmed that it will return \u201cbigger and better\u201d at a new location on Mathew Street.<\/p>\n Soultrain <\/a>has enjoyed considerable success in the city, becoming a popular destination for older partygoers to enjoy throwback music in a more mature setting. The nightclub has moved around the Seel Street area several times over the years, with its most recent location situated next to Brooklyn Mixer.<\/a><\/p>\n On October 4, founder David Thomas announced<\/a> the site would close after difficulties separating both venues’ clientele. He said: “Our new Soultrain bar had to share a toilet with the bar upstairs, so there is no separation of Soultrain and the upstairs bar so anybody can go where they want.<\/p>\n “Upstairs is a normal bar for 18-year-olds and upwards and the music is also too heavy for our Soultrain audience. So what happened was we had kids coming down to our Soultrain club throughout the night, they (were) probably thinking it was just another room.<\/p>\n “And our Soultrain audience going up to the bar and also thinking it\u2019s part of Soultrain, but with loads of younger people and heavy music. We built our reputation on over-25s and great old school music.<\/p>\n “If we had stayed in that club within a few months, our Soultrain reputation, which we have been building for over seven years, would have been wiped out, and it\u2019s not the club’s fault, it\u2019s just the layout wasn\u2019t right for us.”<\/p>\n David told the ECHO <\/a>nobody could’ve predicated the problem and that there is no bad blood between either venues or owners. He said: “None of us knew this would happen. It’s a shame because it was a really exciting moment. Click here to activate <\/a>or add us as a preferred source in your Google search settings.<\/p>\n He noted the problems began on Soultrain’s opening night last week, and that he asked about having a men’s toilet placed downstairs in order to separate the over-25s bar from the rest of the venue.<\/p>\n The DJ added: “We couldn\u2019t find a solution and it got worse, we had kids coming in, we had our audience going up to the other upstairs bar and it was just not working.”<\/p>\n
