<\/p>\nThe Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team have announced they have signed Fred Wright on a three-year contract to run through to the end of the 2027 season.<\/p>\n
Wright spent the first six years of his career racing with Bahrain-Victorious, but will now join fellow Brits Tom Pidcock and Mark Donovan at the up-and-coming Q36.5 outfit.<\/p>\n
It comes just a day after Q36.5 announced they had signed Eddie Dunbar (Jayco-Alula) for the 2026 season, with Wright relishing the new challenge after making the switch.<\/p>\n
“I have been part of this team for my entire career so far and without discrediting them and all the opportunities I had here, it\u2019s time for a new environment after six years,” Wright said.<\/p>\n
“Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team feels like a good fit for me. I have known\u00a0Tom [Pidcock]\u00a0and\u00a0Mark [Donovan]\u00a0for a while, and it feels the group they are building for the future is familiar already.”<\/p>\n
Wright, who won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games Time Trial, spent most of his early years as a track cyclist before transitioning onto the road.<\/p>\n
However, he was inspired by watching Tom Boonen\u2019s 2012 Tour of Flanders and has since developed a reputation for excelling in the one-day classics.<\/p>\n

He boasts two top-10 finishes in Flanders \u2013 a seventh and an eighth in 2022 and 2023, respectively \u2013 while he came ninth at Paris-Roubaix and 10th at Milan-San Remo earlier this year.<\/p>\n
“I have always loved races like Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders,” Wright added. “When I was 13 we travelled to Belgium to do the Flanders sportive with VCL. <\/p>\n
“We watched on the Oude Kwaremont and it was so cool to see Tom Boonen win and feel the spirit of thousands of enthusiastic Belgian fans.<\/p>\n
“Back then I didn\u2019t realise I would be part of those races because road cycling is not the most logical choice for a kid in south London.<\/p>\n
“Later on, I never could imagine a pro road career because my future plans were on the track with the aim of qualifying for the Olympic team pursuit. <\/p>\n
“When my coach said I had what it takes to be pro, I was unsure at first but the coin flipped and I set my sights on road cycling.”<\/p>\n
Now, he is excited to embark on a new chapter in his career having been impressed by how far the team has come in such a short space of time.<\/p>\n
He said: “There are opportunities for me in many races and after having done more or less the same race schedule for years, I am looking forward to discover new races too. <\/p>\n
“I am here to help build the team but they are on a great trajectory already. The ambition is there and they will keep growing.<\/p>\n
“Everything they now already have is quite premium: the look and feel online and offline, the staff, the clothing of course.<\/p>\n
“They are already at the highest level in terms of knowledge. I already met some people of the\u00a0Q36.5 brand\u00a0as well. You wear the kit everyday so knowing the people behind it – see their passion and what they stand for – is inspirational.<\/p>\n
“Tom explained already how happy he is with everything from clothing and nutrition and how short the communication lines are with the sponsors, so I can\u2019t wait to get started.”<\/p>\n

General manager\u00a0Doug Ryder\u00a0is equally excited to see what Wright is able to achieve with the team.<\/p>\n
“Fred is an intelligent rider,” Ryder said. “He reads the races well and is very versatile. <\/p>\n
“He has already achieved top 10s in Monuments like Milan-Sanremo, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, and adding a focused classics block to his season will be a big objective for us together.<\/p>\n
“He was close to wins in the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a already, and I feel we can offer him the final step to win again.”<\/p>\n
