{"id":797753,"date":"2026-10-10T05:08:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T05:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/797753\/"},"modified":"2026-10-10T05:08:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T05:08:08","slug":"trump-fumes-over-nobel-peace-prize-snub-and-criticizes-norway-donald-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/797753\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump fumes over Nobel peace prize snub and criticizes Norway | Donald Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Donald Trump complained Friday about not winning the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/nobelpeaceprize\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nobel peace prize<\/a> for 2026, a year in which he started a war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">At what was supposed to be a rally for other Republican candidates in Syracuse, New York, the US president devoted a long portion of his speech airing his grievances with the Nobel committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cThe United States of America, represented by me as your president, should have received the Nobel peace prize, but didn\u2019t. And this is an indelible stain on the country of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/norway\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Norway<\/a>, and those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cThe Nobel peace prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization,\u201d Trump went on. \u201cWe will not forget, Norway, that you didn\u2019t give this prize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Trump also recited a list of wars he claims to have settled, some of which were not wars and some that are still not settled, before adding: \u201cI\u2019m about to settle or win two more: Iran and Russia-Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Trump said he would be ending both wars \u201cquickly\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cI will tell you what,\u201d he added, darkly. \u201cIran will be very quick one way or the other: that they give us everything or they don\u2019t exist any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cAdditionally, I stopped Iran from having a nuclear weapon and blowing up the entire Middle East and ultimately far beyond the Middle East, including Europe, perhaps the US and I saved more lives than anyone in history,\u201d Trump claimed, despite the fact that US intelligence agencies <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.dni.gov\/files\/ODNI\/documents\/assessments\/ATA-2025-Unclassified-Report.pdf\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported to Congress in 2025<\/a> that Iran had actually suspended its pursuit of nuclear weapons in 2003.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cDespite all of this and all of these unbelievable accomplishments, the Nobel prize was given out today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations, who nobody has ever heard of,\u201d Trump said of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2026\/oct\/09\/navanethem-navi-pillay-wins-nobel-peace-prize\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Navi Pillay<\/a>, the South African former UN human rights chief who chaired the UN commission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/sep\/16\/israel-committed-genocide-in-gaza-says-un-inquiry\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">that concluded Israel was guilty of genocide<\/a> in Gaza.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Donald Trump complained Friday about not winning the Nobel peace prize for 2026, a year in which he&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":797754,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[49,50,51,47,52,48],"class_list":["post-797753","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headlines","tag-headlines","tag-news","tag-top-news","tag-top-stories","tag-topnews","tag-topstories"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/797753","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=797753"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/797753\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/797754"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=797753"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=797753"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=797753"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
