At times, this means some patients wait longer to be seen, receive treatment and be admitted.

“Improving patient experience in our Emergency Departments and supporting our staff to provide the best care possible, is the top priority for the Board.

“Working closely with our local authority partners, we are implementing a significant programme of improvement across the health and social care system to improve the flow of patients through our hospitals.”

All 12 of Wales’ major emergency departments ranked by 12-hour waits

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan: 27.5% (4,551 of 16,563 patients)

Wrexham Maelor Hospital: 25.1% (4,197 of 16,705 patients)

Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor: 18.6% (2,856 of 15,372 patients)

The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran: 18.0% (4,114 of 22,794 patients)

Morriston Hospital, Swansea: 17.5% (3,824 of 21,857 patients)

Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest: 15.7% (2,024 of 12,853 patients)

Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil: 15.0% (2,356 of 15,672 patients)

Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend: 14.5% (2,231 of 15,376 patients)

Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen: 13.9% (2,141 of 15,397 patients)

The Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant: 13.5% (2,110 of 15,677 patients)

University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff: 9.8% (3,357 of 34,323 patients)

Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth: 8.3% (693 of 8,371 patients)

Figures cover June to August 2026 and count the time from arrival to admission, transfer or discharge.

Analysis of Welsh Government figures shows 4,551 of the 16,563 patients who attended Ysbyty Glan Clwyd during the…

[43
102,2960,56,54,55
post-798699","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-healthcare","tag-health","tag-healthcare","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
