{"id":799965,"date":"2026-10-12T08:04:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T08:04:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/799965\/"},"modified":"2026-10-12T08:04:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T08:04:15","slug":"canada-and-uk-back-halt-to-attacks-on-energy-facilities-in-russia-ukraine-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/799965\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada and UK back halt to attacks on energy facilities in Russia-Ukraine war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ottawa\/London, Oct. 11 (SANA) <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/canada\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"13695\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a> and the United Kingdom have expressed support for halting attacks on <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/energy-facilities\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"18381\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">energy facilities<\/a> in Russia and Ukraine, backing U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s call for a lasting ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reuters reported that Canadian Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/mark-carney\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"23713\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Carney<\/a> expressed support for a halt to strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine during a phone call with Trump on Sunday, according to a statement from Carney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">British Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/andy-burnham\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"21907\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Burnham<\/a> also said in a post on X that his country supported Trump\u2019s call for a lasting ceasefire covering energy facilities in <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/russia\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"13892\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Russia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/tag\/ukraine\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"13728\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ukraine<\/a>, with the truce taking effect immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier on Sunday, Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt mutual strikes on energy facilities in both countries.
