Analysts are sending mixed signals \u2013 sales of the iPhone 18 Pro models in China are stronger than those of the 17 Pro models<\/a> and yet Apple is reportedly cutting component orders due to weak demand<\/a>. The analysts at JP Morgan are saying that there\u2019s nothing to worry about.<\/p>\n

In a note to investors, the analysts say that the production cut is a fairly typical adjustment for Apple after a big iPhone launch. They blame it on the split launch \u2013 Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro<\/a> and iPhone 18 Pro Max<\/a> in September and will launch the non-Pro models early next year.<\/p>\n

The note from JP Morgan confirms the observation from China \u2013 the 18 Pro models are seeing higher demand than the 17 Pro models did last year. Not much higher, mind you, but higher.<\/p>\n

What is happening is that some people are waiting for the vanilla iPhone 18 \u2013 the vanilla model is usually the most popular one. The analysts forecast a 2% decrease in iPhone revenues because of the missing iPhone 18.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was willing to wait for it, however, which might have boosted sales of the iPhone 18 Pro. Interestingly, the 17 Pro generation is still selling strong, say the analysts, even though it\u2019s no longer available through Apple.com.<\/p>\n

Apple has a major launch coming up \u2013 the iPhone Duo<\/a> will become available next week, the company\u2019s first foldable. JP Morgan analysts predict that it will be a hot ticket item and it will sell around 8.5 million units before the end of the year. For reference, the global shipments of foldables are expected to be between 20 and 27 million units this year.<\/p>\n
