\n\tUniversal\u2019s horror entry \u201cOther Mommy<\/a>,\u201d directed by Rob Savage and starring Jessica Chastain<\/a> and Jay Duplass, squeaked to the top of the U.K. and Ireland box office in a dead heat, debuting at No. 1 with \u00a31.97 million ($2.66 million).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe horror debut narrowly edged Sony\u2019s psychological thriller \u201cVerity<\/a>,\u201d which moved to second place in its sophomore session by a razor-thin margin of just \u00a333,263 ($43,970), collecting \u00a31.94 million ($2.62 million). The Colleen Hoover adaptation lifted its running cume to \u00a37.3 million ($9.8 million).<\/p>\n

\n\tParamount\u2019s action thriller \u201cHeart of the Beast,\u201d starring Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons, held third position in its third frame with $1.1 million, elevating its gross to $7.3 million. Sony\u2019s franchise reboot \u201cResident Evil\u201d took fourth spot in its fourth session, generating $1 million to advance its total to $17.1 million. Sony also claimed fifth position with the debut of Aaron Sorkin\u2019s political drama \u201cThe Social Reckoning,\u201d which collected $840,538.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal\u2019s \u201cSense and Sensibility\u201d followed in sixth place during its third weekend, adding $797,038 for a running total of $6.8 million. Entertainment Film Distributors\u2019 historical drama \u201cThe Uprising,\u201d directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Andrew Garfield, opened in seventh position with $732,547.<\/p>\n

\n\tStudiocanal\u2019s animated feature \u201cShaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom\u201d landed in eighth place in its fourth session, collecting $665,849 to raise its total to $5.1 million. Warner Bros.\u2019 Tom Cruise film \u201cDigger\u201d took ninth position in its sophomore frame, taking $661,819 to bring its cume to $3 million. Universal\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>,\u201d directed by Christopher Nolan, rounded out the top 10 in its 13th week on release, adding $353,321 to push its cumulative gross to $118.3 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tLooking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, Monday saw Trafalgar Releasing launching music documentary \u201cAlways Lalisa,\u201d followed on Tuesday by Cinematik presenting \u201cENB: The Sleeping Beauty\u201d across 100+ locations.<\/p>\n

\n\tWide commercial and saturation rollouts on Friday opening across 300+ locations are led by Disney\u2019s survival thriller \u201cWhalefall,\u201d directed by Brian Duffield and starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin; Icon Film Distribution\u2019s found-footage horror \u201cThe Influencer Project,\u201d starring Chiara King; and Trafalgar Releasing\u2019s filmed stage capture of \u201cHadestown: The Musical,\u201d starring Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada. Paramount is also rolling out \u201cStreet Fighter\u201d.<\/p>\n

\n\tMid-tier and platform releases across 100+ locations include Universal\u2019s animated feature \u201cForgotten Island,\u201d directed by Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado, and Anime Ltd.\u2019s anime re-release \u201cArrietty,\u201d featuring voice work from Saoirse Ronan and Tom Holland.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpecialized, festival, and international titles arriving Friday include Conic\u2019s drama \u201cCase 137,\u201d directed by Dominik Moll, across 25+ screens; Soilsiu Films\u2019 documentary \u201cForever Is Now,\u201d directed by Neasa N\u00ed Chian\u00e1in, across 25+ sites; DOVC U.K.\u2019s \u201cDeadline,\u201d directed by Kiwi Chow across 25+ screens; Central City Media\u2019s \u201cIt\u2019s My Time,\u201d directed by Xue Bai and starring Michelle Yeoh across 25+ locations; Bulldog Film Distribution\u2019s \u201cBy Design,\u201d directed by Amanda Kramer and starring Juliette Lewis; Signature Entertainment\u2019s \u201cWinter of the Crow\u201d; Exposure\u2019s \u201cMistura\u201d; Dogwoof\u2019s \u201cNaza\u201d; and Bakrania Media\u2019s \u201cPrahaar.\u201d<\/p>\n
