Frank Carr, a fourth-generation farmer who featured on the BBC<\/a> programme Countryfile<\/a>, has died at the age of 35.<\/p>\n

Farmers Guardian announced the death with a lengthy tribute, describing Carr as a \u201cfamiliar and much-loved face\u201d to its readers.<\/p>\n

Carr worked alongside his family at Lee Gate Farm in Malhamdale. The 2,000 acre farm in the Yorkshire Dales<\/a> National Park incorporates more than 2,000 acres of owned and rented land.<\/p>\n

Carr and his father, Frank Senior, farmed sheep and beef, with about 1,300 breeding ewes and 250 breeding cows, according to Farmers Guardian.<\/p>\n

The Countryfile episode, aired in August, saw Carr speak at length about the farm, which has been in his family for nearly 100 years.<\/p>\n

He told host Adam Henson said he was \u201cadamant\u201d when he was younger that he would not go into farming<\/a>, as he saw how \u201crestricted\u201d it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen my parents got divorced and my father and uncle were deciding what would happen to its future, we realised I was the only one who had any interest in it, so it was sort of a yes or no,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the pros and cons of farming, saying that it was \u201crewarding\u201d but could involve a great deal of financial pressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn farming, every day is an opportunity to learn. Farming is a very rewarding profession, although it can be very challenging mentally; it can also be very rewarding, so that’s another reason why I love what I do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, farming is a business, so the financial aspect is always an issue. There\u2019s no real clarity on the future, especially for hill farms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carr died on 25 September but his death was announced last week. <\/p>\n

An official cause of death has not been given.<\/p>\n

Farmers Guardian editor Katie Jones said: \u201cFor those who met Frank through his farming, his work with the industry or his appearances in the farming media, he will be remembered not only as a talented young farmer but as someone who represented the very best of the next generation \u2013 committed to his family, his livestock, his land and the future of British farming.<\/p>\n
