is this a no-go area or something?”

The incident is the latest example of fly-tipping being reported in Buckinghamshire.

Just days earlier, a large quantity of industrial waste was found dumped on a roadside verge between High Wycombe and Flackwell Heath, prompting an investigation by Buckinghamshire Council.

The latest discovery has highlighted wider concerns about fly-tipping across the county, particularly in rural communities where quiet lanes, fields and footpaths can become targets for illegal dumping.

Against that backdrop, David Moore, the Conservative Buckinghamshire councillor for Farnhams and Stoke Poges, has called on the Government to introduce tougher enforcement measures.

In a Facebook post published on October 9, Mr Moore said fly-tipping across Buckinghamshire villages was “reaching breaking point”.

He said country lanes and verges were being repeatedly targeted and argued that residents, taxpayers and volunteers should not be left to deal with the consequences.

As part of a consultation by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Mr Moore has written to ministers urging stronger powers to tackle offenders.

In his letter, he said: “Residents are fed up with our countryside being treated as a free tip while taxpayers and volunteers are left to clear up the mess.”

Mr Moore, who co-founded the South Bucks Wombles litter-picking group, said he supports tougher penalties for offenders, including recovering clean-up costs and requiring fly-tippers to carry out supervised environmental clean-up work.

He also called for greater enforcement resources, stronger cross-boundary intelligence sharing and tougher action against repeat offenders.

It was found by local resident Mark Wallace (Image: Mark Wallace)

In the Facebook post accompanying the letter, he wrote: “Make fly tippers clear up their crap.”

He added: “Our residents, taxpayers and volunteers should not be left clearing up after those who deliberately trash our countryside.

“If you fly-tip, there must be consequences.”

While there is no suggestion that the Stokenchurch fly-tip is connected to the concerns raised by Mr Moore, both cases underline the ongoing challenge posed by illegal dumping across Buckinghamshire.

Robert Carington and Shade Adoh, both councillors for Ridgeway West, said: “We are saddened to see this brazen fly-tipping incident on a beautiful countryside location.

“It is a disgusting and disrespectful criminal act which is an attack on our lovely countryside.

“Thank you for those who have reported this and we would urge the public and farmers to be vigilant and report anything which looks like it may be fly-tipping, so the council can investigate and, where possible, prosecute.”

Ade Osibogun, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate Change & Waste, added: “The scale of the fly-tipping shown in these images is shocking.

“Fly-tipping is an unacceptable and anti-social crime that damages our environment, blights local communities and places an unfair burden on landowners and taxpayers.

“An Enforcement Officer will visit the site, establish land ownership and gather any evidence that could help identify those responsible.

“We use a combination of investigation, enforcement, education and targeted surveillance to identify those responsible and to deter further offences.
