Disgraced BBC<\/a> presenter Huw Edwards<\/a> made a rare public appearance in Swansea this week as he turned 64. The convicted sex offender, who was officially dropped from the BBC<\/a> in 2024, celebrated his birthday on (Monday) August 18th, and was seen carrying three bottles of Prosecco from his car through the streets of the Welsh city.<\/p>\n

Edwards sported a white beard and wore a blue shirt under a black jacket, with a blue baseball cap held in one hand as he made his way down the street. He also wore glasses and smart brown shoes despite the seemingly casual outing, with a pair of black slacks.<\/p>\n

Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children in July 2024 at Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court, after resigning from the BBC<\/a> on \u201cmedical advice\u201d months earlier. He had been off air since 2023, when allegations against him were brought to light.<\/p>\n

While he was originally suspended from the BBC<\/a>, Edwards remained on its payroll and was paid \u00a3475,000 in 2023-24. The BBC<\/a> asked him to return more than \u00a3200,000 of that salary, but though \u201cdiscussions were underway\u201d, he had not returned the money by September 2024.<\/p>\n

Sources in August 2025 claimed the money has still not been recovered<\/a>, with one telling The Sun: \u201cEveryone is raging about it.
