Racing isn’t over; some riders with unfinished business will be lining up for the Eneco Tour this week, and the Track World Championships kick off on Wednesday in Shanghai, but the WorldTour season is done.

Unsurprisingly, Demi Vollering ended the 2026 season at the top of the charts, but fan favourites Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney and Elisa Longo Borghini finished second and third in the UCI rankings, proving their consistency over a long season of ups and downs.

Next year, we have plenty to look forward to, including a peloton of musical bikes for riders and staff and a new calendar with some key changes. For now, let’s bask in the glow that was the 2026 season, because, dang, was it a good one.

Abby Mickey | Senior Editor

First things first: Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Brodie Chapman on the move

Two major signings were announced on Monday: Brodie Chapman to Liv-AlUla-Jayco and Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig to Uno-X Mobility. Both feel a bit like the same vibe. An Australian rider going to an Australian team with big goals for her future after years riding as a loyal domestique, and a Danish rider going to a Norwegian team (with a heavy Danish contingent) looking to make a big return to top form.

Chapman, when she first broke onto the scene, was immediately flagged as being a future talent for Australia. Throughout her early years, she was a top scorer for Tibco-SVB, her first team, but when she made the move to the WorldTour she was shuffled into a domestique role. It wasn’t a bad move for someone as loyal and hardworking as Chapman, and especially for her long-time teammate Elisa Longo Borghini, Chapman became one of the go-to workers in the peloton.

But just because that is the role she has excelled at for seven years doesn’t mean that she’s lost the desire to clock her own results.

I am very excited to dig into this deeper with Chapman herself, so stay tuned for that coming soon …

As for Uttrup Ludwig, I spoke with the former Danish national champ earlier this season about her ambition in the sport.

Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig just wants to have fun again

Going into her 13th year in the peloton, the irrepressible Dane talks with Escape about her recovery from a crash, finding the joy again in the sport, and the one race she really wants to win.

For the last two years, she’s been hunting down the form and spark that won her the Tour of Scandinavia, stages of the Tour Down Under and the Vuelta a Burgos, and a stage of the Tour de France Femmes. In the closing kilometres of the European Championships recently, Uttrup Ludwig showed signs of her former self when Franziska Koch attacked, and the Danish star followed her.

This post is for paying subscribers only
Subscribe now

Already have an account? Sign in

Did we do a good job with this story?

Yep

Nope

Members Only Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig 2.0 is coming, Vos is still the G.O.A.T., and the Eneco Tour is…

[37
4985,101,56,54,55
post-801805","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cycling","tag-cycling","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
