{"id":802445,"date":"2026-10-14T15:34:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T15:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/802445\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T15:34:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T15:34:10","slug":"us-inflation-rises-more-than-expected-heres-what-is-happening-with-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/802445\/","title":{"rendered":"US inflation rises more than expected &#8211; here&#8217;s what is happening with prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Inflation has risen to 3.7% in the year to September, which is a higher-than-expected increase fuelled by gasoline prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Car fuel prices jumped by 34.2% over 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In September alone, they jumped by 9.1%, accounting for more than half of the increase in inflation, according to the Bureau or Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Overall, energy inflation was up by 20.4% over the year as prices for fuel oil, energy services and electricity climbed. Fuel oil, used in home heating, was up 74.2% over the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Experts said the US Federal Reserve &#8211; which sets the country&#8217;s interest rate &#8211; will be closely watching to see if energy costs begin to affect other areas of the economy, such as food prices, and drive inflation higher. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">At the moment, food inflation remains subdued.
