{"id":802751,"date":"2026-10-14T22:06:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T22:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/802751\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T22:06:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T22:06:11","slug":"trainer-robert-garcia-sums-up-floyd-mayweathers-chances-of-beating-ryan-garcia-in-comeback-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/802751\/","title":{"rendered":"Trainer Robert Garcia sums up Floyd Mayweather&#8217;s chances of beating Ryan Garcia in comeback fight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/ryan-garcia\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Garcia<\/a> is looking for his next opponent after defending his WBC welterweight title last month, and highly-respected trainer Robert Garcia has offered his thoughts after seeing Floyd Mayweather linked as a possible challenger for the Californian\u2019s belt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/49892403\/ryan-garcia-vs-conor-benn-live-updates-results-analysis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u2018King Ry\u2019 blitzed Conor Benn inside two rounds in September<\/a>, flooring the Brit with a brutal right hand before pouncing on the wounded visitor and drawing the early stoppage from referee Thomas Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the nature of that win, Garcia is looking for a fast turnaround and may even fight for a third time this year as he eyes up an appearance in either December or January.<\/p>\n<p>Another 2026 outing could possibly thrust him into the Fighter of the Year conversation, but a <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/floyd-mayweather-offered-title-shot\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rumoured showdown with Mayweather<\/a> \u2013 where Garcia could end the fabled 50-0 record of the boxing icon \u2013 is more spectacle than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@ESNEWS\/featured\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ESNews<\/a>, Robert Garcia admitted that he does not believe the fight will happen, but that he would favour the reigning champion to come out on top if it does.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think that it is true, but if it did happen I think Ryan [would win].\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMayweather has been so inactive, he is 49 [years old].
