Commonwealth Silver Champion boxer Levi Giles<\/a> is preparing fight former English Featherweight Champion Nelson Birchall this weekend in a televised fight<\/a>. Levi, who grew up on the Nunsthorpe<\/a> estate, faces a Lighweight Ten Round contest with the Morecambe fighter at the London O2 Area, opening the main TV Card on DAZN as part of the Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley rematch for the WBO World Heavyweight Title, promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.<\/p>\n

Giles is hoping it will be third time lucky after two winless visits to the capital, including a defeat to Reece Bellotti for the British & Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Titles in July 2024 and to Giorgia Visioli for the English Lightweight Titles in March.<\/p>\n

His opponent is jumping up two weights for Saturday’s fight. Bookmakers have Birchall 1\/8 to prevail and Giles at a generous 5\/2 to \u2018upset the applecart\u2019.<\/p>\n

Carl Greaves, Giles\u2019 manager and promoter, said: “Full credit to Levi (Giles) for agreeing to fight Nelson Birchall on ten days\u2019 notice. There aren\u2019t many fighters in British boxing who would take on an unbeaten former English Champion on such short notice. It won\u2019t be easy for Levi (Giles) but at the same time there\u2019s no reason why he can\u2019t win at the weekend.<\/p>\n

“I tell all my fighters to make sure they are always \u2018fight ready\u2019 so they can accept these fights when offered. What a fantastic show to be part of, who wouldn\u2019t want to be fighting on the undercard of Daniel Dubois v Fabio Wardley 2 and opening the main tv part of the show. It doesn\u2019t get much better than that.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve been involved in quite a few upsets on TV shows as a trainer and manager. There\u2019s no reason why I can\u2019t add Levi Giles to that list.”<\/p>\n
