Kelly Ripa <\/a>and <\/a>Mark Consuelos<\/a> are opening the doors of their New York City<\/a> home to a new member of the family\u2014an adorable puppy named Javi they recently adopted.<\/p>\n

The husband-and-wife TV hosts<\/a> featured an “Adopt a Dog Week”<\/a>-themed segment during the Oct. 12 episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark.” It was during this bit that the couple met their new furry friend, a rescue from a New Jersey<\/a>\u2013based organization called Pet ResQ Inc.<\/p>\n

Ripa and Consuelos immediately fell for the puppy, originally named Lucas. The couple gave him a new moniker before he was officially adopted.<\/p>\n

“Listen, Mark walked into my dressing room this morning with Lucas in his arms,” Ripa shared. “And I saw a different you. I saw a kinder, gentler you.”<\/p>\n

Ripa, 56, and Consuelos, 55, are parents to Michael, 29, Lola, 25, and Joaquin, 23, as well as another dog, named Lena.<\/p>\n

The couple met the dog, whom they named Javi, on the set of their morning show, “Live with Kelly and Mark.” (Live with Kelly and Mark)<\/p>\n

During the show, they joked that they needed to “have a chemistry test” to make sure Javi would get along with Lena before taking him home officially.<\/p>\n

On the Oct. 13 episode of the morning show, the couple revealed they had officially adopted Javi, adding that the “meet cute” went well, even if they’re going to have to take things “slow” between the two pups as they get used to each other.<\/p>\n

“We have a new baby. Not living in the house yet. Gotta wait for a couple of medicals, a couple of tests, but we are like expectant parents,” Ripa told viewers. “Like, I started nesting last night. I couldn’t sleep. I started making a nest.”<\/p>\n

Although Ripa has yet to detail just exactly what changes she’s made to their townhouse to prepare for little Javi’s arrival, a number of home organization pros have previously told<\/a> Realtor.com\u00ae<\/a> there are a few tips and tricks pet owners can take to make their houses more pet-friendly.<\/p>\n

Smart storage solutions for toys and food can help ensure a pet has all they need without overtaking the home with clutter, and easy-to-clean surfaces such as washable carpets and furniture covers can keep the place smelling fresh.<\/p>\n

It’s exciting to welcome a new pet home in any instance, but for Ripa and Consuelos, Javi’s arrival had an extra special meaning.<\/p>\n

“I kept thinking about how much Javi reminded me of Chewie,” Ripa shared, referring to the family’s shih tzu who died in February 2025. “I was thinking, ‘Oh, I bet Chewie sent Javi here for us.’<\/p>\n

“My beloved dog, who I will never get over and mourn for the rest of my life, sent this little dog here,” she continued.<\/p>\n

Once Javi’s medical tests are complete, the dog will have a pretty impressive property to call home: a $27 million 7,796-square-foot Upper East Side<\/a> residence.<\/p>\n

In a 2024 Architectural Digest tour<\/a>, Ripa revealed that she immediately knew the townhouse, which they purchased in 2013, would become the family’s forever home.<\/p>\n

“I was like, ‘It’s perfect, just hand me my toothbrush,'” she recalled. “We’ve moved several times in our lives, but no matter where we go, for me, this is my forever home. When I walked in here, I was like, ‘This is the final place where I will live.’ I love this house so much.”<\/p>\n

Since moving in more than a decade ago, the couple have fashioned the lavish abode in a style that’s a mix of art deco and modern, featuring vintage furniture and custom-designed pieces that discreetly store shoes and other belongings.<\/p>\n

The couple’s bedroom is inspired by a European hotel room and beautifully furnished with pieces selected from “flea markets in Paris,” according to Ripa.<\/p>\n

Meaningful artwork is displayed around the home, which they have shared is great for hosting parties, with a sizable kitchen and a comfortable living room.<\/p>\n
