With\u00a0Clayface<\/a>\u00a0a week out and the newly formed Skydance recently behind them, James Gunn and Peter Safran have reaffirmed they\u2019re with the DC Universe for the long haul.<\/p>\n

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Safran teased there\u2019s a \u201cbigger story\u201d they\u2019ve been itching to tell for years. Apparently, being under Paramount now allows for \u201ceven more resources\u201d to tell it, along with an \u201ceven greater reach that\u2019s really exciting for us.\u201d And since they\u2019re both among those who survived the culling<\/a>, he couldn\u2019t help but add he was glad David Ellison \u201cinvited us to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gunn added that Ellison knows \u201call we wanted to do and what was happening, the secrets, and where the DCU was going.\u201d This also appears to extend beyond 2027\u2019s\u00a0Man of Tomorrow and the projects set to come after it, announced and otherwise<\/a>. At the moment, those announced projects are just another Creature Commandos season, The People v. Gorilla Grodd<\/a>, and 2028\u2019s separate (but still important) The Batman Part II<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As for the present, Safran took the time to talk up\u00a0Clayface,\u00a0saying it helps give the DC slate a \u201ctremendous scope of tones and vibes, scales and scopes and budget levels. The fact that we get to make a DC movie that is a pure body horror movie, that is a dream come true.\u201d And even if you don\u2019t know a thing about Clayface, or at least the Matt Hagen version of the character, he said you\u2019ll likely love it just as a horror movie.<\/p>\n

Speaking of\u00a0that movie, though, director James Watkins called the current regime change \u201coutside noise. All that I can do is make the best movie I can, and the rest is out of your control. But I\u2019m excited for the movie. We\u2019ve been getting good responses and I hope it really connects with people.\u201d<\/p>\n
