You\u2019ll also need something to anchor one foot down with. Kooner performs the move holding a dumbbell on his chest in the Reel, but he suggests that beginners start without a weight.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you use a weight or not, moving with control is essential. \u201cMove slowly through the range,\u201d says Kooner. \u201cAvoid using momentum or swinging the leg.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The core also plays a big role here. \u201cKeep your core engaged to prevent your lower back from arching,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Start your week with achievable workout ideas, health tips and wellbeing advice in your inbox.<\/p>\n<p>Complete 8 to 12 reps per side, holding briefly at the bottom of the movement before raising slowly again.
