British actress Haley Atwell has spoken about the upcoming \u201cAvengers: Doomsday\u201d and confirmed that the film\u2019s story was still very much being tweaked as they were filming. <\/p>\n

If there\u2019s a character that brings heart to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it\u2019s Atwell\u2019s Peggy Carter. Atwell has played Peggy across various ages and over several films, her own live-action TV series, and in animated form with \u201cWhat If\u201d.<\/p>\n

On an upcoming episode of The Playlist\u2019s Bingeworthy<\/a> podcast to discuss the new MGM+ series \u201cTreasure Island,\u201d Atwell disccussed the decision to revisit Steve and Peggy\u2019s story in the new \u201cAvengers\u201d film and how the directors and writers were changing things on the fly:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think with this [Doomsday], though, there is such meticulous care for delighting the fans that I really feel that the studio knows exactly what it\u2019s doing for the sake of really delighting and satisfying the expectation and going beyond it.<\/p>\n

[It] comes out in December. It\u2019s so epic. It\u2019s so extraordinary, the level of ambition and scope that they had for it, that I knew that whatever we were trying \u2013 and we tried different things, we shot different things, there were different storylines, some picked up, some developed, some dropped away.<\/p>\n

It really is with the intention of finding the thing that makes the most sense for those characters, but also for what role they play in this part of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Atwell was asked whether she had any reservations about Marvel reopening that chapter, the Peggy & Steve happy ending of \u2018Endgame\u2019 seemingly being very short-lived. She indicates that she\u2019s been happy with character work she\u2019s been able to do in some projects, but not all.<\/p>\n

That said, she sounds quite happy to return to the role if it\u2019s something fans want and Marvel is willing to do more with the character:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve said publicly that any time I\u2019ve been asked to come back or speculation of me coming back, of wanting to in some way do something new and evolve her more, and I love the fact that in \u2018What If\u2026\u2019 it was an animation, but we saw her doing so much more than I\u2019d gotten to do in a practical sense in the live action. I hope that that\u2019s something that, if the fans want it specifically, that there is a calling for that to happen at some point. I\u2019d be willing to have that conversation for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
