\n\tAs Beatles fans are transported back to Abbey Road for Sam Mendes<\/a>\u2018 upcoming biopic, Paul McCartney<\/a> has some thoughts on the casting.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Beatles<\/a> alum said he was concerned that Paul Mescal<\/a> looks \u201cmarkedly shorter\u201d compared to his co-stars, and he even reached out to Mendes about it, but doesn\u2019t know how the director is \u201cgonna deal with it\u201d in the four-film cinematic event.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYeah, and guess what? He\u2019s smaller than the guy who\u2019s playing John [Lennon],\u201d explained McCartney on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler<\/a> podcast. \u201cSam Mendes is making the film. I heard Sam Mendes is making the film. I said, \u2018Sam, I\u2019ve got just one thing that I need to say to you. Paul\u2019s a bit smaller.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the movies\u2019 cast re-created the iconic Abbey Road (1969) album cover<\/a> while filming in London back in August, McCartney said his concerns worsened.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, I don\u2019t know how Sam\u2019s gonna deal with it, but he sent me a picture, a still from the filming they were doing,\u201d he recalled. \u201cThey were crossing the Abbey Road crossing, and the Paul character is markedly smaller.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMcCartney continued, \u201cSo, I texted him, \u2018Sam! Smaller! Don\u2019t do this! You said you wouldn\u2019t do it.\u2019 He said, \u2018No, it\u2019s ok. It\u2019s just the stride.\u2019 And he sent me another one where they were equal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLast February, Deadline exclusively revealed that Mendes is set to direct each installment<\/a> of The Beatles \u2014 A Four-Film Cinematic Event<\/a>, through his Neal Street Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Each film will connect, telling the band\u2019s story from each member\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n
