Pic: Jonathan Leibson\/Getty Images for Star Magazine<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cates played the role of Jenny Porter, joining the show when she was just 16 years old. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From her time on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.extra.ie\/tag\/bbc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BBC<\/a> show, Cates went on to star in An Awfully Big Adventure. She also appeared on movies including Frankie Starlight and Clay Pigeons. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, 2point4 Children creator Andrew Marshall confirmed Cates\u2019 death.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/georginacate.jpg\" alt=\"georginacate\" class=\"wp-image-1820109\"  \/> Actress Georgina Cates. Pic: David Livingston\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.x.com\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"www.x.com\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">X<\/a>, the writer shared: \u2018I\u2019m very sad to report, I have just discovered, that lovely and talented Claire Woodgate aka Georgina Cates, our 1st Jenny in 2p4 died last May. I have no other details than on IMDb. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Sympathies to her family and children. If anyone has further details to share, please do.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social media users shared messages of condolences in the comments, with one writing: \u2018Sorry to hear that. I was lucky enough to see 2 Point 4 Children at a studio record at TVC. Superb cast and writing.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m very sad to report, I have just discovered, that lovely and talented  Claire Woodgate aka Georgina Cates, our 1st Jenny in 2p4 died last May. I really thought she was great in An Awfully Big Adventure.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cates, who went by Clare Woodgate at the time, played the role of Jenny Porter in 2point4 Children for the first two series before Clare Buckfield took over. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She reinvented herself as Georgina Cates after the show.
