\n\tTaika Waititi<\/a>\u2019s \u201cStar Wars\u201d movie, which has been in development since 2020, is officially on hold, the director confirmed while promoting his latest film \u201cKlara and the Sun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI hate to break this to you, but we\u2019re going to actually put it on ice and we\u2019re working on a different thing together,\u201d Waititi told Inverse<\/a> while discussing \u201cStar Wars.\u201d His publicist reportedly told him not to say more about it during the conversaiton. \u201cWell, there\u2019s your answer,\u201d Waititi said. \u201cI don\u2019t even know how to dress it up or make it even vague.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s very iced. I\u2019ve got about four other movies I\u2019m trying to do,\u201d he continued. \u201cIce ages do come to an end\u2026 Who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBack in Jan., the director had said<\/a> he was \u201ctrying to go back and harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films, which is what I remember [from] them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe stakes are very high, and there\u2019s serious things going on, but there\u2019s also a lot of fun to be had in those films. That\u2019s what I was trying to bring back,\u201d Waititi continued. \u201cI was trying to work in a world that was a little bit separate to that because they\u2019ve got so many things going on within that space. For me to do something there, it would need to be a little different and a little bit more its own thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPreviously, exiting Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy said Waititi\u2019s \u201cStar Wars\u201d was \u201cstill somewhat alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThus far, Waititi\u2019s latest directorial effort, \u201cKlara and the Sun,\u201d has met a mixed response from critics and fans.
