North Wales Crusaders chairman Jamie Elkaleh has issued a video update to supporters, confirming that the club faces a make-or-break 24 to 48-hour deadline with the RFL regarding a £150,000 escrow demand.

Elkaleh, who returned to lead the club after the previous owners faced well-documented financial issues earlier this year, apologised for the recent communication silence while emphasizing his commitment to total transparency as negotiations with governing bodies reach a decisive head.

Addressing fans directly, Elkaleh revealed that the club has submitted all requested paperwork in a timely fashion since May, but remains locked in a battle with the RFL over a £150,000 escrow sum required to secure their operating future.

“We still fundamentally reject the principle of escrow,” Elkaleh stated. “We believe, I strongly believe, that clubs should have control of their assets. We’ve demonstrated more than enough liquidity, three-and-a-half times that value in terms of easy access for the club, however, it’s still not something that satisfies the needs of the RFL.”

With a strict deadline set for Monday evening, Elkaleh questioned the transparency behind the RFL’s calculations, confirming the club is still awaiting answers on how the £150,000 figure was determined based on their submitted business plan.

While expressing personal frustration over how the club has been treated during the process, Elkaleh praised newly appointed CEO Ian for improving communication lines ahead of the crucial cutoff point.

“Tomorrow is a big day, I will communicate very clearly with you,” Elkaleh added. “There is action happening in the background. I’m not happy, there’s many people not happy internally with the process, the transparency of that process, and the clarity of our position.

“We have sponsors, we have directors, we have investors all waiting, all documented, with solid proof. We are fighting, we are going nowhere, and we are going to be holding those to account that need to be held to account in the near future.”

The club expects to issue a definitive update once the RFL deadline passes.
