The Witcher 3 Remastered<\/a> on Nintendo Switch 2 has just received Patch 5.01<\/a>, which introduces tweaks and fixes first applied to other platforms alongside platform-specific improvements to the visual clarity, resolution, and performance.<\/p>\n

Though we were quite pleased with the launch state of the ambitious remaster on Switch 2<\/a>, we noted there were some odd choices pertaining the FPS cap in both docked and handheld, as well as some confusing visual compromises that made the image shockingly blurry in portable play. With the hardware having access to DLSS and developer CD Projekt RED having delivered sharper visuals with the trickier port of Cyberpunk 2077, we were expecting improvements, and here they are.<\/p>\n

The Witcher 3 Remastered 5.01 Patch Notes for Switch 2<\/p>\n

On October 19, 2026, CDPR re-shared the update 5.01 patch notes<\/a> and highlighted the key improvements made to the Nintendo Switch 2 port. These are the points Switch 2 players should pay special attention to:<\/p>\n

Made adjustments to image sharpening and resolution to improve visual clarity and fidelity.
\n Fixed a rare crash that could occur when changing between in-game regions.
\n Optimized cache handling for Cross-Platform Mod Support.
\n Fixed an issue where HD Rumble could only be felt in the left Joy-Con 2 when climbing a ladder.
\n Fixed an issue where map pins could be placed on the black bars surrounding the map.<\/p>\n

More specifically, the adjustments to sharpening and resolution are meant to directly address criticisms shared by players since the remaster\u2019s generally successful launch on all current-gen consoles and PC. Many felt the Switch 2 port could be pushed a bit further in terms of visual clarity, and this is CDPR\u2019s first attempt at improving things on that front.<\/p>\n

Does the Latest Witcher 3 Remastered Switch 2 Patch Actually Improve Visuals?<\/p>\n

Yes, even without pre-patch comparisons in the same spot of the game world at hand, you can see in the screenshot above there\u2019s a clear improvement in portable play, with the docked \u201cmode\u201d benefitting even further from the unspecific changes made to image clarity. It must be noted the better results are even more striking on the console\u2019s smaller screen.<\/p>\n

That said, we\u2019re expecting CDPR to continue to tinker with The Witcher 3 Remastered on Switch 2 until it reaches greater heights. For now, we\u2019re off to a great start with this one, and I\u2019d wager most players will be quite pleased with Patch 5.01\u2019s changes<\/a>.<\/p>\n
