{"id":808752,"date":"2026-10-20T16:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T16:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/808752\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T16:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T16:10:09","slug":"us-bans-use-of-chinas-deepseek-ai-tools-by-government-agencies-trump-administration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/808752\/","title":{"rendered":"US bans use of China\u2019s DeepSeek AI tools by government agencies | Trump administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US<\/a> government on Monday ordered its agencies to stop using artificial intelligence (AI) tools from the Chinese startup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/deepseek\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeepSeek<\/a>, as the countries race for dominance in the fast-moving sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">A notice from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the ban on products developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/deepseek\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DeepSeek<\/a> \u2013 and tools created using DeepSeek by third parties \u2013 saying they must be removed from IT devices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">The DHS can issue direction to civilian agencies but not the military or intelligence services.
