A number of LIV Golf players – and former tour winners – have signed up to the Second Stage of DP World Tour Q School…

As LIV Golf’s deadline looms, a number of the league’s players are working towards securing a different kind of playing future in 2027.

TG revealed earlier this month that a significant number of LIV stars are negotiating contracts with the DP World Tour that will enable them to bypass the circuit’s gruelling Q School and guarantee them a tournament starts next season – on the condition they don’t sign up to the league’s proposed relaunch.

Some players without status on the DP World Tour will be offered a certain number of sponsors invites, based on their perceived value to the circuit, filling out blank schedules if they reject the terms offered by LIV 2.0.

But for others, like Sam Horsfield, the pathway back may not be as straightforward. The Englishman, who is a three-time DP World Tour winner, will perhaps not be eligible for one of these deals after he signed up for the Second Stage of Q School at Isla Canela Links.

The second rung of the qualifying process is held across four different Spanish venues – Isla Canela, Fontanals GC, Las Pinailllas and Desert Springs – from October 29 to November 1 and includes a host of former tour winners and recognizable names. The Final Stage, also held in Spain at the Infinitum Golf resort the following week, will offer 20 DP World Tour cards for next season.

Joining Horsfield at the Second Stage, meanwhile, are some of LIV’s brightest prospects in Josele Ballester, Luis Masaveu and Michael La Sasso, who all made it through the First Stage.

It has been confirmed LIV players will be unable to hold DP World Tour memberships if they sign up to the next iteration of the league, so these players would need to leave the league if they were to claim cards for the 2027 campaign.

Other notable names at DP World Tour Q School

As well as the LIV contingent, a number of DP World Tour champions will take part in the Second Stage of Q School.

The most notable of these are South African George Coetzee, who has won five titles on the European circuit, and Robert Rock, who famously stared down Tiger Woods at the 2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The pair will tee up at Fontanals alongside fellow multiple-time winners Tom Lewis, Fabrizio Zanotti, Joachim B Hansen, Shubhankar Sharma, and Alejando Canizares.

Another five-time winner, Alex Levy, will tee up at Desert Springs, alongside Kristoffer Broberg, who has two DP World Tour titles in his trophy cabinet, as does Lucas Bjerregaard, who is hoping to get through at Isla Canela.
