care home<\/a> in Shepshed has been downgraded by a government watchdog after inspectors visited the premises in August.<\/p>\nThe Care Quality Commission (CQC) said that the home was \u201cclean, calm and comfortable\u201d and had caring staff, but changed its rating from \u201cgood\u201d to \u201crequires improvement\u201d.<\/p>\n
Inspectors said a number of medicines had not been given to residents because they were out of stock, posing a health risk.<\/p>\n
Arrangements for coordinating healthcare appointments were also reportedly ineffective, and several hospital follow-up appointments had been missed.<\/p>\n
Inspectors said there was a risk of infection spread when an unlocked bin containing clinical waste was left in an area open to the street.<\/p>\n
Some staff described \u201cstress, a lack of direction, and gaps in supervision\u201d but received positive feedback from residents\u2019 families.<\/p>\n
Prime Life Limited, which runs the care home, said it doesn\u2019t agree with all the watchdog’s conclusions but is working to get back on track.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said: “We are hugely disappointed with the CQC outcome at Whiteacres, and whilst we do not agree with all the information contained within the report, the outcome has fallen below the expectations of ourselves, the residents who live at the home, the staff and the wider supporting network.<\/p>\n
