{"id":809424,"date":"2026-10-21T07:04:14","date_gmt":"2026-10-21T07:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/809424\/"},"modified":"2026-10-21T07:04:14","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T07:04:14","slug":"joe-lycett-gave-the-selden-arms-pub-a-free-100-drinks-tab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/809424\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Lycett gave The Selden Arms pub a free \u00a3100 drinks tab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Bar manager Joe Bunn said he was \u201cvery excited\u201d when he learnt his pub, The Selden Arms, would receive a \u00a3100 tab from Joe Lycett.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The promotion gave 30 pubs across the UK a \u00a3100 bar tab to mark the final episode of Channel 4\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theargus.co.uk\/leisure\/national\/26239141.joe-lycett-applies-licence-run-pub-new-live-channel-4-series\/?ref=mse_al\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cLive from The Lycett Arms\u201d<\/a>, a comedy series hosted by the comedian and Celebrity Traitors star.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The traitors star pledged to put \u201ca little bit of money\u201d behind the bars of selected pubs across the country.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The show was filmed in a real pub created by Mr Lycett, where celebrity guests and members of the public joined him for live Friday-night interviews, comedy, games and pub chat.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The pub opens for just one hour each week while the programme is on air.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The Selden Arms (Image: Google Street View)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Bunn said regulars nominated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theargus.co.uk\/news\/6812236.pub-scoops-top-award\/?ref=mse_al\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Selden Arms<\/a> of Lyndhurst Road, Worthing, for the promotion, but staff did not learn it had been chosen until the show revealed it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: \u201cIt was a mild panic as we didn&#8217;t know how the bar tab would work.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Bunn, who has been working at the pub for four years, said the only condition was that the event took place on Friday 16, so he announced at 6pm that night that drinks were on Joe Lycett.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He said: \u201cThe tab ran out in 6 minutes.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The 37-year-old said he had followed Lycett\u2019s work since the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2009.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Bunn said: \u201cHe is very good.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Bunn added that The Selden Arms has been in Worthing for &#8220;years&#8221;
