{"id":81016,"date":"2025-08-20T21:04:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T21:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/81016\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T21:04:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T21:04:08","slug":"uk-pub-market-faces-structural-shift-as-managed-operators-gain-ground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/81016\/","title":{"rendered":"UK pub market faces structural shift as managed operators gain ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">This is despite these operators only comprising of just over a quarter of sites, the Lumina Intelligence Pub &amp; Bar Market Report has said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">This growth is being driven by their scale and investment capital, enabling them to enhance and revamp estates, including premium offerings and pubs with rooms. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">The report highlighted this focused investment will provide competitive advantage and profitability in the short term, potentially making it harder for smaller, independent players to keep pace.<\/p>\n<p>Mounting pressures<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Operators continue to face mounting pressures from escalating costs, which are squeezing \u201crazor-thin margins\u201d and are expected to lead to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morningadvertiser.co.uk\/Article\/2025\/08\/18\/8-pubs-a-week-closing-as-tax-burden-and-costs-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.morningadvertiser.co.uk\/Article\/2025\/08\/18\/8-pubs-a-week-closing-as-tax-burden-and-costs-rise\/\">net closure of around eight pubs per week in 2025<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">In response, operators are enacting extreme cost-saving measures, such as restructuring trading hours, reducing workforce and rationalising estates through strategic disposals and consolidation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body-skinny\">Despite these challenges it forecasts the market will achieve a compound annual growth rate of 1.9% from 2024F-2027F, reaching \u00a324.9bn but this is trailing behind the total eating out market\u2019s 2.8%.
