With Apple’s brand new ‘foldable’ iPhone set to release tomorrow, someone decided to truly put the smartphone to the test by seeing how durable its folding feature really is.<\/p>\n

YouTuber Tim Pan decided to fold the new model 10,000 times for a wild experiment on Apple’s latest release, and it has left people in two minds over the results.<\/p>\n

On Friday, 23 October, the tech<\/a> company will distribute its first-ever flip phone to its global audience, and from there, they’ll get to see what their users think.<\/p>\n

After it was claimed by Apple<\/a> that the product has an almost invisible crease between both screens, people were bound to want to know if it was true, and if that meant it could withstand years of open and closing.<\/p>\n

To get to the bottom of it, Pan took to his YouTube channel<\/a> to reveal what would happen if he did 500 folds by hand, 10,000 folds by a machine, and an additional 1000 folds at -4\u2109 (-20\u2103), by a machine.<\/p>\n

Then, he could get the information fans would likely want to know.<\/p>\n

In his video<\/a>, he explained that after 500 folds, ‘you can clearly see the brand new iPhone Duo’ ended up with a ‘deeper’ crease.<\/p>\n

For the next test, he said the outcome was clear.<\/p>\n

“After 10,000 continuous folds at room temperature, plus 1,000 more at -4 Fahrenheit, we can finally confirm to you that the hinge is still very smooth,” said Pan. “It still assists when opening just like it did on day one.<\/p>\n

“The screen crease has definitely deepened though, which is to be expected. Can debris get pulled into the hinge though? I think yes, according to our test.”<\/p>\n

While the image clearly shows a deepening of the crease after the tests had been completed, a lot of people were quick to defend Apple online.<\/p>\n

One person said: “The end result looks like a lot of current foldables on day 1 lol,” as another said: “Haven’t watched the video but to me that’s a good advert for the phone not against it.”<\/p>\n

Someone else said: “Breaking: Folding phone has crease.”<\/p>\n

Then there were those who didn’t understand why the invisible crease was something people would be obsessed with in any case.<\/p>\n

“I don’t get this whole fascination with creases,” wrote a Redditor. “They are NOT a real issue on any modern folding phone. Period.”<\/p>\n

Someone else agreed, writing: “If all of y\u2019all can deal with cracks all over your screen and ignore those over time then the crease is a literal non-issue. You hardly even notice it.”<\/p>\n

As it stands, the Duo is allegedly the thinnest of all the iPhone<\/a> generations with its 7.6-inch display (open) and 5.4 inches (closed.)<\/p>\n
