One of the more intriguing pieces of news to emerge from LIV Golf\u2019s bankruptcy hearings in recent days concerned Cameron Young. <\/p>\n

Cameron Young<\/a>\u00a0is now one of the best players on the\u00a0PGA Tour<\/a>, having won The Players Championship and finished in the top-three at two of the four majors in 2026. However, history could have been very different for the 29-year-old.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Which player do you expect to benefit most from leaving LIV Golf? <\/p>\n

Several names have already announced they will not be involved with LIV 2.0<\/p>\n

It was revealed this week that Young had actually reached an agreement with\u00a0LIV Golf<\/a>\u00a0to join the league back in 2022, one week after finishing second to Cam Smith at\u00a0The Open Championship<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is not clear what convinced Young to stay with the PGA Tour. He did play in the\u00a0Presidents Cup<\/a>\u00a0later that year, but he would have to wait another three years to win on the PGA Tour for the very first time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Young would have almost certainly not been the only player to agree a deal with LIV before backing out. But his decision does make his perspective on what happens next much more interesting. <\/p>\n

What Cameron Young said about Brooks Koepka returning to the PGA Tour after his LIV Golf exit<\/p>\n

Of course, the PGA Tour welcomed\u00a0Brooks Koepka<\/a>\u00a0back earlier this year. Meanwhile, there has been speculation throughout the season concerning the future of LIV.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ESPN<\/a> back in May, Young was asked about having Koepka back, as well as the possibility of more LIV players returning in the future. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s a little bit tricky. I think it\u2019s been great to have Brooks back. He\u2019s a fan favourite, he\u2019s a great golfer, great major championship player, so I\u2019m happy to have him back. I think it\u2019s good for the PGA Tour, I think it\u2019s good for the game to get to see him more. The tour did have the system that they put in place for him. They had the opportunity this January for some of those guys, the select few, to come back, and Brooks was the only one to take that opportunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not up to me, but I think the PGA Tour, I imagine they\u2019ll find a way for some of those guys to come back, but I don\u2019t know if it will be as simple as it was for Brooks. Time-wise, he didn\u2019t have to sit out or anything like that, so I really have no good information on what will happen, but all in all I play golf to play golf against the best players in the world. That\u2019s one of the main things that drives me is to compete. To me, there\u2019s a handful of really, really good players that are over there, and seeing them four times a year I probably would rather compete against them more. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re asking me, I\u2019d probably like to see them back in some capacity however they decide it\u2019s going to work out. And you\u2019d like it to be fair to both sides, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any reason to unduly punish them coming back. But at the same time, it felt like an all or nothing decision to go. It\u2019s up to people smarter than me to figure it all out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cameron Young has been vindicated for snubbing LIV Golf after agreeing a deal<\/p>\n

Obviously, Young\u2019s trajectory would have been completely different had he decided to go through with signing with LIV back in 2022. <\/p>\n

He may well have had more immediate success when you consider that he did not win on the PGA Tour until 2025. However, Young must be delighted with where he is right now, with a major championship victory surely the next step in his career. <\/p>\n

He has top-five finishes at each of the four majors across his career. Meanwhile, he was a star at both the 2025 Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup in September. <\/p>\n

In hindsight, signing with LIV appeared to put a much lower ceiling on a lot of players. Very few will leave with evidence to show that they are better players than when they joined, though their bank balances should certainly soften the blow. <\/p>\n

Had Young made the jump, he may well have won much sooner. But he will surely reflect now that he made the right decision when he chose to stay with the PGA Tour. <\/p>\n
