The masked maniacs will unleash bloody carnage once again in The Strangers: Chapter 2 this coming September, and the film has received its official \u201cR\u201d rating from the MPA this week.<\/p>\n

The Strangers: Chapter 2 is rated \u201cR\u201d for \u201cBloody violence, and language.\u201d<\/p>\n

How does that rating compare to the three previous films in the franchise? They have all been rated \u201cR\u201d from the beginning, but for slightly different reasons. Here\u2019s the breakdown\u2026<\/p>\n

The Strangers (2008): \u201cRated R for violence\/terror and language.\u201d
\nThe Strangers: Prey at Night (2018): \u201cRated R for horror violence and terror throughout, and for language.\u201d
\nThe Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024): \u201cRated R for horror violence, language and brief drug use.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just over one year after\u00a0The Strangers: Chapter 1\u00a0kickstarted a new trilogy of terror tales, Lionsgate is getting set to unleash\u00a0The Strangers: Chapter 2\u00a0in theaters on\u00a0September 26.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official synopsis: \u201cThe Strangers are back \u2013 more brutal and relentless than ever. When they learn that one of their victims, Maya (Madelaine Petsch), is still alive, they return to finish what they\u2019ve started. With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Maya must survive another horrific chapter of terror as The Strangers \u2013 driven by a senseless, unceasing purpose \u2013 pursue her, more than willing to kill anyone who stands in their way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Deep Blue Sea) directed both\u00a0Chapter 1\u00a0and\u00a0Chapter 2, as well as the upcoming\u00a0The Strangers: Chapter 3.<\/p>\n
