\n Spire Cheshire Hospital has introduced the Mako Surgical System, a technology designed to help surgeons carry out joint replacement procedures with greater precision and a more personalised approach for patients.\n<\/p>\n
\n The system creates a tailored surgical plan based on a patient’s individual anatomy using a 3D CT-based model.\n<\/p>\n
\n During surgery, it provides real-time data to support surgeons, helping them position implants accurately while preserving healthy bone and tissue where possible.\n<\/p>\n
\n Hospital bosses say the minimally invasive approach can help improve recovery times for patients undergoing knee and hip replacements.\n<\/p>\n
\n The technology will be used by the hospital’s orthopaedic consultants, who have completed specialist training in robotic-assisted joint replacement procedures.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Greville Farrar, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Cheshire Hospital, which is based in Stretton, said: “The Mako surgical system represents an exciting development in joint replacement surgery, enabling us to offer robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery and, for the first time, robotic-assisted hip replacement surgery to our patients.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The system allows us to create a patient-specific surgical plan and provides real-time data during the procedure, helping us achieve a high level of accuracy.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Ultimately, this enables us to deliver personalised care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.”\n<\/p>\n
