\u2018Obsessed\u2019 with sex but denies goal to bed 5,000 women<\/p>\n
Brand told the court he had an obsession with sex as a younger man, but denied setting himself a \u201cgoal\u201d to sleep with 5,000 women.<\/p>\n
He insisted that he has never forced himself on a woman, telling jurors consent is \u201cnon-negotiable\u201d and \u201cmore important than sex itself\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mark Pinheiro, a former friend of Brand, had told the trial about the comedian\u2019s techniques for \u201cpulling\u201d women and allegedly revealed an ambition to sleep with 5,000 women.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC asked: \u201cIs it a goal you may have had?\u201d<\/p>\n
Brand replied: \u201cI don\u2019t agree, I don\u2019t recall the conversation you are referring to.\u201d<\/p>\n
He admitted to being \u201cobsessed\u201d with sex in his younger years but denied the extent of the impact on his life.<\/p>\n

Ms Karmy-Jones asked him: \u201cDo you accept that you were desperate for it and sometimes couldn\u2019t function without it?\u201d<\/p>\n
Turning to Mr Pinheiro\u2019s suggestion he wanted to sleep with 5,000 women, he said: \u201cWhile I don\u2019t remember, it\u2019s entirely possible it\u2019s the kind of badinage I would have engaged in when I was 24.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that it would have been a \u201cjoke\u201d if he had told Mr Pinheiro he would not leave a situation with a woman without a conquest.<\/p>\n
Claims in Brand\u2019s book used against him<\/p>\n
It was suggested Brand had pretended to be gay in order to convince the woman he is accused of raping to let him join her in her hotel room.<\/p>\n
Mr Karmy-Jones produced a page from Brand\u2019s book, My Booky Wook, which had a picture of him aged seven with the caption: \u201cThis is the exact moment when I decided to act gay to attract girls. It took 15 years to produce results.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIs that what you did Mr Brand? Pretend to be gay to attract women?,\u201d asked the prosecutor.<\/p>\n
He then added: \u201cIt\u2019s a joke. \u2018Look at me, I\u2019m a little boy in my garden and 15 years later\u2026 I was meeting women\u2019. It was a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Karmy-Jones read out other extracts from the book, in which Brand had said he \u201cwould never have relented until I received my birthright orgasm\u201d.<\/p>\n
In one passage he wrote: \u201cMy egotism and the single-mindedness with which I pursued potentially sexual conquests could often make me uneasy company\u201d.<\/p>\n
In another he set out: \u201cNow if I want something \u2013 whether it\u2019s a job or a woman \u2013 I will determinedly, resolutely, remove anything that\u2019s in the way, until I possess the object of my desire.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the book, Brand referred to himself as a \u201cfervid, febrile mass of sexual energy\u201d towards the end of sex, adding: \u201cI\u2019ll do anything. I\u2019m demonically sexy.\u201d<\/p>\n
And he said it ends up with him as a \u201cguilty little berk in a sweaty tank top\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ms Karmy-Jones put to Brand that he is \u201cguilty\u201d, and he responded: \u201cActually not guilty is my plea in every single case.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the allegations against Brand is that he raped a fan after meeting her at one of his Hammersmith Apollo<\/a> stand-up performances in 2009.<\/p>\nHe told the court he stored her name in his phone next to the letter T, which he said stood for \u201ctart\u201d.<\/p>\n
Asked what he meant by the word he replied: \u201cThat was what I used to denote casual hook-ups.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also added the letters AP by her name, which he said stood for “anal play”, meaning “fooling around with anal sex”.<\/p>\n
