The Thursday letters page asks who you\u2019d vote for at the Golden Joysticks 2026 awards, as a reader demands more Jill Valentine in the next Resident Evil<\/a>.<\/p>\n Games Inbox<\/a> is a collection of our readers\u2019 letters, comments, and opinions. To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@metro.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n Silver medal Somehow they have Phantom Blade Zero<\/a> on there, despite it not being out till today, but I guess all these award shows have their own rules. This is the full list of 12 nominees for \u2018Ultimate\u2019 Game of the Year: 007 First Light, Big Walk, Control Resonant, Crimson Desert, Dispatch, Forza Horizon 6, Phantom Blade Zero, Pok\u00e9mon<\/a> Pokopia, Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem, Star Wars<\/a>: Galactic Racer, and The Blood Of Dawnwalker.<\/p>\n Shame that Onimusha: Way Of The Sword<\/a> is not on there, as it would\u2019ve been three nominations for Capcom<\/a>, but overall I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a bad line-up. Even though I obviously haven\u2019t played them all.<\/p>\n The question is though, which would you pick, knowing that GTA 6 is not an option? For me the front runners are 007 First Light, Resident Evil Requiem, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Thinking the unthinkable Now, I don\u2019t think Rockstar would make a mistake like that with GTA 6 but then I wouldn\u2019t have expected the makers of The Witcher 3 to have messed up like that either.<\/p>\n If it happened and they fixed it, I\u2019m sure they\u2019d be quickly forgiven, like CD Projekt Red were, but a part of me wants to see it happen, just for the sheer chaos that would be created. But probably we\u2019ll have to just settle for nobody turning up for work that day. Ever increase trouble It seems every day AI causes more problems and there\u2019s no end in sight. I don\u2019t see what we can do about it either, because the genie is out of the bottle and it\u2019s not going to go back in. How are publishers going to be able to make money out of anything if everything gets cloned and copied within minutes?<\/p>\n And that\u2019s just the trouble it causes in the world of video games, let alone the rest of the world. Email your comments to: gamecentral@metro.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n Lost Valentine Resident Evil doesn\u2019t really need much of a story but it\u2019s all getting so messy and inconsistent now that it\u2019s beginning to get distracting. Also, there\u2019s too much Leon. I know he\u2019s the most popular one, but where the heck is Jill Valentine? Her last mainline game was\u2026 Resident Evil 5? That\u2019s the best part of two decades ago! And the only remake she\u2019s been in was a low effort flub, for some reason.<\/p>\n It\u2019s weird because back in the day I always thought of her as the face of the franchise. I\u2019m fine with it being Leon instead, because he is cool, but Jill is far better than Chris, who is the most boring and generic default male character you could imagine. I hope whatever Resident Evil 10 is, that Jill has a starring role. Also, that the story makes sense. Mad Link It reminds me of the continuity in the Mad Max films, in that there isn\u2019t really any. It\u2019s just the same basic story told in a different way each time, like it\u2019s a legend that being told by different people with different information. And which was the only one that wasn\u2019t any good? The only one that was a straight sequel. Behind the scenes I\u2019m sure that was music to EA\u2019s ears at the time, the only problem being it didn\u2019t work and the game was a flop. But sometimes you roll the dice and it doesn\u2019t work out, BioWare had to have known that was a possibility at the time.<\/p>\n Dragon Age: The Veilguard got a lot of unfair criticism, but the fact is the marketing for it was terrible, painting it as some kind of wacky action game, and it came out just before Christmas. It was doomed no matter how good or bad you think it was.<\/p>\n How much of that was EA and how much was BioWare I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019m assuming EA didn\u2019t want it to fail, so there must\u2019ve been conversations between the two.<\/p>\n What I\u2019m saying is we don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on behind the scenes at these companies or who\u2019s making the decisions. At the end of the day, it\u2019s over a decade since BioWare has had a hit and I don\u2019t know any company that would put up with that. Clearing the fridge It\u2019s looking pretty likely that GTA Online 2 will be a separate download, so you can keep that (and probably wouldn\u2019t have room for both) but how long will GTA 6\u2019s single-player remain on people\u2019s hard drives? I don\u2019t suppose there\u2019s anyway to tell, but that\u2019s one statistic I\u2019d like to see. \t\t\t\tDon’t miss Gaming news! It\u2019s my favourite Zelda and one of my favourite games ever for its weird, creepy atmosphere. However, there are somethings I\u2019d like them to improve, beyond just using the new stuff from the 3DS remaster.<\/p>\n The game could really do with a better final section. I don\u2019t want to spoil anything but everything that happened in the last hour or two was kind of an anti-climax, with a weak final boss fight. Some of the graphics were a bit ropey too, where you could see where they kit-bashed Ocarina Of Time to make it.<\/p>\n I also wouldn\u2019t complain if there was an extra dungeon or two. Majora\u2019s Mask has less than usual and while I don\u2019t think the Ocarina Of Time remake adds anything that big it would be nice for its sequel, which is quite short by Zelda standards.<\/p>\n Just my thoughts, but the truth is I\u2019ll be happy with anything they do that looks as good as Ocarina Of Time. Inbox also-rans GC: Either way, we can\u2019t say.<\/p>\n The mention of the transparent N64s brought me such a wave of nostalgia. They look kind of ugly now, so I\u2019m surprised Sony is copying them<\/a>, but back in the day they were the coolest. We all know what\u2019s going to dominate The Game Awards<\/a> this year but looking into it, I see that the Golden Joysticks dates are different and they don\u2019t include GTA 6<\/a> (they must be quite different because they include Dispatch, which started in late October last year).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s probably just me being negative but I suddenly can\u2019t help wondering what it would be like if GTA 6 has a bad launch, like Cyberpunk 2077 did. People seem to forget now but that game was unplayable on consoles when it came out and it nearly ended CD Projekt Red \u2013 Sony kept it off the PlayStation Store for a really long time.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t even know what to say about the AI blackmailing story<\/a>. I had to read it twice just to process it. Not because it was a complicated situation but because I just can\u2019t believe that\u2019s where we are right now. Indie developers getting blackmailed for money or some scumbag will use AI to clone your game. That is some dystopian madness.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t really know what the Resident Evil guy was talking about with his two 10 year plans<\/a> but if they are going to start the next 10 years with a big story plan I hope they stick to it properly. All the set-up in Resident Evil Village already seems to have been forgotten and Requiem contradicted itself within the same game, let alone the one that came after it.<\/p>\n

It always amuses me to see fans talk about the Zelda timeline<\/a>, because it\u2019s obvious they care about it far more than Nintendo does. Nintendo basically gave up with Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom and said they\u2019re separate and don\u2019t count, because they couldn\u2019t be bothered to pretend they fit in anywhere. To me it would make sense to say that for everything except the ones that are purposefully sequels, which is hardly any of them.<\/p>\n

As much sympathy as I have for BioWare being shutdown I\u2019m not sure the blame can be put entirely at EA\u2019s door. As far as I understand Anthem was actually BioWare\u2019s idea. They saw live service games were becoming a thing and they wanted to get ahead of the game with their own one, and get EA to support them with other stuff afterwards.<\/p>\n

Somehow I don\u2019t think people are going to be complaining about the file size on GTA 6<\/a> as much as they would something like Call Of Duty. But it\u2019s interesting because at what point do you delete it to make room for other games?<\/p>\n

I have to agree with the reader that said he doesn\u2019t want any more Zelda remakes after Majora\u2019s Mask. Of course, we don\u2019t know if they will do that, but I really hope so and I think it\u2019s likely as a lot of the groundwork is already done \u2013 which means they can probably contract it out to someone else if they want.<\/p>\n
