Gloucester<\/a> Rugby have announced that they have won their tug-of-war with Leicester<\/a> Tigers and have persuaded England<\/a> international Seb Atkinson to put pen to paper on a new deal at Kingsholm.<\/p>\n

The Tigers wanted former Worcester<\/a> Warriors ace Atkinson, 24, who has won seven England caps, to solve a problem area in their squad at inside centre next season, but instead the 2024 and 2026 Player of the Year has signed a new two-year deal.<\/p>\n

Atkinson was named in Steve Borthwick\u2019s squad for the forthcoming Nations Championship<\/a> campaign and will stay at Kingsholm until 2029, with head coach George Skivington calling it a significant moment for the Gallagher PREM champions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a really significant re-signing for us. Seb had plenty of options on the table, so his commitment to the Club is a real indication of where Gloucester Rugby is right now. Seb has been exceptional for us since the day he arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe came with great physical qualities and an outstanding level of professionalism in the way he approaches his own development and the success of the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the ultimate professional and a fantastic role model for any young rugby player in the way he carries himself on matchdays, in training and away from the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to get Seb\u2019s deal over the line and look forward to him remaining a key part of what we\u2019re building at Gloucester Rugby for many years to come,\u201d said Skivington.<\/p>\n

Atkinson, who earned his first senior England cap against Argentina<\/a> in 2025, admitted that he\u2019s committed to bringing success to the club over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really grateful to the Club for everything they\u2019ve given me since arriving at Kingsholm. There\u2019s no doubt the faith the coaches have shown in me, and the time they\u2019ve invested in my development, has played a huge role in shaping the player and person I am today.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying at Kingsholm is a privilege, and I\u2019ve been overwhelmed by how the Gloucester supporters have welcomed me and made me feel one of their own.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m in a place where I feel valued by the coaches, the fans and my teammates. I\u2019m enjoying my rugby and feel this is the perfect environment for me to continue developing and improving my game.<\/p>\n
