{"id":817809,"date":"2026-10-29T18:12:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T18:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/817809\/"},"modified":"2026-10-29T18:12:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T18:12:11","slug":"no-evidence-of-corby-cancer-rise-after-waste-scandal-says-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/817809\/","title":{"rendered":"No evidence of Corby cancer rise after waste scandal, says report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Dr Jane Bethea, the director of public health for North Northamptonshire Council, said: &#8220;We recognise that concerns about cancer rates in this area have been deeply felt by some residents, and it is important that those concerns are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This independent assessment provides the most comprehensive analysis available for this population and time period.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The council&#8217;s leader, Martin Griffiths, added: &#8220;We recognise that a cancer diagnosis, particularly involving a child or young person, is deeply distressing for families, and that concerns about why it happened are entirely understandable. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This expanded study has looked at a larger population, over a much longer time period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It found no clear evidence that cancer rates among children and young adults living within the study area are different from those experienced elsewhere.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Do you have a story suggestion for Northamptonshire?
