King\u2019s Lynn golfer Jack Yule has made a sensational start to his bid to secure a place on the DP World Tour next season after storming to the top of the leaderboard at Qualifying School in Spain.<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old produced a superb opening round of ten-under-par 62 at Desert Springs Golf Club in Almer\u00eda on Thursday to put himself in pole position after the first day of the Second Stage of qualifying.<\/p>\n
Yule\u2019s outstanding performance saw him move three shots clear of his nearest challengers, India\u2019s Veer Ahlawat and Denmark\u2019s Jesper Sandborg, who were both on seven under par.<\/p>\n

It was the perfect start for the King\u2019s Lynn golfer, who is chasing the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in professional golf.<\/p>\n
The King\u2019s Lynn Golf Club member is competing in a four-round, 72-hole tournament running from October 29 to November 1, with a coveted place in the Final Stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School at stake.<\/p>\n
Yule faces stiff competition, with hundreds of golfers battling across four different Spanish venues for the chance to progress to the final hurdle.<\/p>\n
Alongside Desert Springs, qualifying tournaments are being held at Isla Canela Links, Golf Las Pinaillas and Fontanals Golf Club.<\/p>\n
Unlike many professional tournaments, there is no halfway cut at the Second Stage, meaning competitors have four rounds to secure their place among the qualifiers.<\/p>\n
The number of players progressing from each venue will be confirmed by the DP World Tour, with sudden-death play-offs used if necessary to settle ties for the final qualifying positions.<\/p>\n
For Yule, however, his magnificent opening round has given him an ideal platform from which to launch his challenge.<\/p>\n
Should he successfully negotiate the remaining three rounds, he will advance to the Final Stage at Infinitum Golf in Spain from November 6-11.<\/p>\n
There, 156 players are scheduled to compete over six rounds, with the leading 15 players and ties earning playing privileges on the DP World Tour for the 2027 season.<\/p>\n
The Lynn golfer began the week ranked 935th in the Official World Golf Ranking.<\/p>\n
With three rounds still to play, Yule will know there is plenty of work ahead before he can celebrate qualification to the final stage.<\/p>\n
But the opening-day fireworks will have been especially satisfying for Yule, who successfully negotiated Qualifying School last year to secure his DP World Tour playing privileges for 2026.<\/p>\n
