It follows on from a <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/10\/klara-and-the-sun-box-office-fail-1237201321\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline<\/a> report indicating the film \u201csat around for two years with Sony befuddled as to how to release it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Though based on Kazuo Ishiguro\u2019s best-selling sci-fi novel and boasting both the acclaimed director and a strong cast led by Jenna Ortega, the film has not had much luck since it premiered at the London Film Festival just over two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Reviews for the title were overwhelmingly negative, the movie taking a critical drubbing with just 26% (4.5\/10) on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/klara_and_the_sun\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> and a 30\/100 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/movie\/klara-and-the-sun\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Metacritic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then the film opened in the U.S., Canada and a few markets like Australia last weekend to terrible results \u2013 taking in just $701,059 domestically and $1.44 million worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi and Natasha Lyonne co-star in the film which follows Klara (Ortega), an Artificial Friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home. When Klara meets Josie (Mia Tharia), each immediately senses a kindred spirit in the other.
