\n Essex Way Surgery, in Benfleet, had a full assessment from the Care Quality Commission for the first time in more than 10 years.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors awarded the surgery an overall “good” rating, with the same result for all individual areas including safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC found patients were protected and kept safe, while there were enough staff with appropriate skills, qualifications and experience.\n<\/p>\n
\n Staff were also praised for treating patients with “kindness and compassion” while respecting their privacy, dignity and individual preferences.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors said: \u201cPeople were positive about the quality of their care and treatment.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cFeedback from people we spoke to was very positive, with people describing the service as responsive to individual needs and praising the quality of care received.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n The report said facilities and equipment were “clean and well maintained”, while medicines were managed appropriately.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors found care was based on the latest evidence and good practice, with staff working alongside other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for patients.\n<\/p>\n
\n Survey results also highlighted patient satisfaction with access to preferred healthcare professionals.\n<\/p>\n
\n Around 61 per cent of patients said they could usually see or speak to their preferred healthcare professional when they wanted to, compared with a national average of 42 per cent.\n<\/p>\n
\n The surgery also has an active patient participation group, which works with staff to improve services based on feedback.\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC also praised the surgery\u2019s leadership, describing a culture based on listening, learning and trust.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors said leaders were “visible, knowledgeable and supportive” and encouraged staff to develop in their roles.\n<\/p>\n
\n The report added: \u201cManagers worked with the local community to deliver the best possible care and were receptive to new ideas.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas.”\n<\/p>\n
