Nvidia has quietly removed the GeForce RTX 5080 from its online store, following rumors that the card has been discontinued and the earlier disappearance of the flagship RTX 5090. Meanwhile, RTX 5080 prices have climbed to nearly $2,000 at some US retailers, close to the RTX 5090’s original launch price.

Nvidia’s store no longer lists the RTX 5080 or includes it in the graphics card filters, just as they did for the RTX 5090. However, this does not necessarily mean that Nvidia has discontinued the graphics card. The company has yet to confirm the status of either model. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 remain visible in the store even though both are marked as out of stock.

The disappearance has fueled speculation that Nvidia could be winding down production of the RTX 5080, potentially alongside the RTX 5090. There are also rumors that Nvidia could be preparing a new version of the RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory to replace the standard 16 GB RTX 5080, as well as the flagship RTX 5090, all at the same time. However, Nvidia has not yet announced any plans for its release.

In the meantime, finding an RTX 5080 at a reasonable price is becoming increasingly difficult. A survey of Micro Center, Best Buy, Central Computers, Newegg, and other US retailers conducted early this week found the cheapest offers starting at $1,979.99. That puts the RTX 5080 almost on par with the RTX 5090’s original $1,999 launch MSRP, even though the RTX 5080 debuted at $999, so its price has nearly doubled.

The increase has been attributed to limited supply, strong demand, and ongoing memory shortages. With retailers reportedly running low on stock, prices could stay high as the remaining cards become harder to find. Nvidia has not publicly explained the situation, and board partners have shared little information about GPU supply.
